Android Ultimate Plugin Tutorial part 10 – App Indexing

Hi Everyone, today we will discuss App Indexing , so what is App Indexing ?

App Indexing helps you get your app found in Google Search. Once your app is indexed, mobile users who search for content related to your app can see an install button to your Android app in Search results. This helps you increase your install base.

App Indexing also helps you keep your users coming back. When mobile users with your app installed search for something relevant to your app content, Search results can link directly to the relevant content in your app. This keeps your customer base engaged.

So let’s Start

First of all you must follow the guides and instructions on this link, without following this link nothing will happen your app will not be index even the Android Ultimate Plugin runs and activated.

https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/6041489

Then after that I will Assumed that you are done doing the setup from the above link

To Activate App Indexing using Android Ultimate Plugin is so easy first you need to setup your Android Manifest file

add this lines on your Android manifest file

after the <intent></intent> inside <Activity android:name=”com.unity3d.player.UnityPlayerNativeActivity” ></Activity>

Note: you need to change the scheme, host and pathprefix on this intent-filter to make google app indexing works.

for more information on how to change the scheme, host and pathprefix see the links below:
https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/android/app
https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/android/server

here’s some example on how we did this on Android Ultimate Plugin Manifest file

Also Don’t forget to add this

After we setup Our Android Manifest file, time to do some little bit of coding

First we get the instance of AndroidUltimatePluginController

we then now, set the SetDebug to 0 to prevent showing of Debug Toast Messages

Then after that we need to initialize it, by calling InitGoogleIndexing() method and passing the required  Application Title, App URL link and Application Web URL

After we initialized it, we can now start app Indexing by calling StartGoogleIndexing() method

Note: just call app Indexing once after  your application or game done loading the initial screen, calling this multiple times violates the Google App Indexing policies. To know more information about this just follow this link and look for best practices

https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/android/appActivity

And Finally to stop App Indexing just call StopGoogleIndexing() method

For testing google app indexing read and follow this link
https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/android/test#top

if you are curious and want to know what Android Ultimate Plugin really doing  when app indexing your application, just follow this link and look for  Modify Deep link activities

https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/android/appActivity

For more information about App Indexing just follow this links

https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/

https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/introduction

And that’s all, I know it’s really confusing and not really easy to understand but i think after you follow all those links and  read those information carefully, you will realized the power of app indexing and how important to have this on your application or games.

And there you go, we are done, I Hope you find this tutorial really helpful

Thank  you for visiting and reading our tutorial, Happy Coding 🙂

Android Ultimate Plugin Tutorial part 9 – Local Notification

Hi Guys, if you haven’t try our Local Notification feature on Android Ultimate Plugin here’s some tutorial,  I know you wanted to change the icon on that notification and I also know that you wanted to customize that notification alert sound and you are lucky we are going to this discuss it right now.

add this permission on your Android manifest file before <application> tag

then add this line at the end of  main </activity>  tag  and before </application> tag

this will received your local notification event when activated. without this no notification will show.

Note:  this tutorial is outdated and Android Ultimate Plugin Controller does not exist anymore.

Let’s start coding, First thing to do get the instance of AndroidUltimatePluginController

Old way

New way

First thing to do get the instance of LocalNotificationPlugin

Next we set SetDebug Method to 0 because we don’t want to see any Debug Toast Messages

Old way

New way

And to set a Local Notification we call ScheduleNotification() method and pass corresponding values which is the following

Old way

Then wait for 3000 milliseconds or 3 seconds

New way

Note: if we set the debug mode to 1 notification will be triggered even if our application is currently running. if the debug mode is 0 local notification will not be triggered if our application is currently running.

to test Local Notification when Debug is 0, we need to activate Local Notification then quit or close our application and wait for Local Notification to be triggered after 3 seconds.

After testing and we confirm that it is working perfectly now is the time to change the icon of Local Notification, you can do this by going to “Assets/Plugins/Android/res” and look for the folder drawable-hdpi, drawable-ldpi, drawable-mdpi, drawable-xhdpi,drawable-xxhdpi and replace the ic_launcher.png by your own customize png image

localNotification_tut_1

Note: make sure that the filename of the new  png  is “ic_launcher” don’t rename it. if you rename it , it will not work or it can produce a bug or your app might stop.

localNotification_tut_2

then after that if you wanted to change the alert sound just replace the alert.wav files with you own wav files this file can be found at “Assets/Plugins/Android/res/raw”

localNotification_tut_3

Note: make sure that the filename of the new wav is “alert” don’t rename it. if you rename it , it will not work or it can produce a bug or your app might stop.

And that’s it, it should be working now and I Hope that you are happy with your new notification icon and notification alert sound.

Note: don’t forget to place android-support-v4.jar on “Assets/Plugins/Android” local notification required it to make it work.

For Reference Here’s the code that we used on Local Notification Demo and Noticed this code has been changed to show the new version on how to used it.

Android Ultimate Plugin tutorial part 8 – Immersive Full Screen Mode

Hi Guys, let’s tackle about Immersive Full Screen Mode so what is this? this Android Feature lets your app go truly “full screen” but take note this feature is only introduces on Android 4.4 (API Level 19) so make sure your Android Device version is 4.4 and above before testing this feature.

and thankfully to activate Immersive  Full Screen Mode using  our Android Ultimate Plugin is very easy and quick.

First you need to get the instance of AndroidUltimatePluginController

Next  if you want to see some Debug Toast Message pass 1 to SetDebug() method else 0 if you don’t want to see this debug messages.

To Active Immersive Full Screen Mode just call ImmersiveOn() method and pass your preferred delay in our case we pass 500 milliseconds or 0 if you want to activate it immediately.

To Deactivate Immersive Full Screen Mode just call ImmersiveOff() method

And that’s it , see this is so easy and Quick and you don’t need to put Prefab on Unity3d Heirarchy which is extra effort on your side.

Note: this feature is only introduces on Android 4.4 (API Level 19) so make sure your Android Device version is 4.4 and above to activate this feature.

For Reference here’s the exact code that we used on our Immersive Demo

For more information about Immersive Full Screen mode just visit this link

https://developer.android.com/training/system-ui/immersive.html

WordPress email not sending Fixed

Hi Guys, Today I will show you on how to fixed this bug that most of the WordPress user encounter and this bug is really hard to fixed it takes me almost half a day before i fixed this bug.

Note: this fixed is for ubuntu user and on my case I’m using Digital ocean droplet

so let’s start

1. Make sure you have an Mail Transfer Agent on your droplet. if you don’t have , You will need to install an MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) on your droplet in order to route mail for PHP. You can do this simply by installing postfix or sendmail on your droplet.

to do this login in your console or login using putty in my case on windows then run this command to install the Mail Transfer Agent

sudo apt-get install sendmail

2. after installing you need to run this command and answer Yes to all

sudo sendmailconfig

3.  then run this command after setting the config to restart the service

service apache2 restart

4. then run command “reboot” to make sure every settings is reloaded

reboot

Testing

to test run this command , if this run successfully meaning you can now send email

telnet localhost 25

To Send test email you can install this plugin which send test email

https://wordpress.org/plugins/check-email/

if the email that  you send didn’t received by your test email, you just need to wait for awhile, if you didn’t received your mail after more than 2 minutes there’s a problem to check this problem you need to login again on your console or using putty.

run this command

nano /etc/hosts

after running this command you will see some text something like this

127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain  localhost  [yourdomainname]

if you see something similar to this but not the same format fixed that by copying this format and your good to go. save it then repeat the process above from number 2 to 4. then test it again using our test above. on my case it works and i can send email now using my WordPress.

Android Ultimate Plugin tutorial part 7 – Audio Recorder

Hello Guys, it’s me again and now i will show  you on how to use our Audio Recorder from our Android Ultimate Plugin. let’s start!

Permission needed for your Android Manifest  if you forgot to add this your app will not work or it will just stop , so please add this to prevent any problems.

First we need to get the instance of AudiodRecorderPlugin

Next we need to SetDebug method to 0 because i don’t want to see those toast Debug messages but if you want you just need to pass 1 on it.

Then we need to prepare our audio file name and output path

After that we can now initialize our AudioRecorderPlugin by calling InitAudioRecorder() method and passing filename and out path on it. the third parameter is only tells if you wanted to use persistent path and in our case we want it.

To set Volume call SetVolume() method

To Start Audio Recording just call StartAudioRecord() method

To Stop Audio Recording call StopAudioRecord() method

To Load the recorded Audio call LoadRecordedAudio() method

To play Recorded Audio just call  PlayAudioRecord() method and pass the pitch that you wanted

To Stop playing recorded Audio just call StopAudioRecordPlay() method

To Pause recorded Audio just call PauseAudioRecordPlay() method

When you are done using Audio Recorder you must release the Audio Recorder Service on Android by calling ReleaseAudio() method

Note: without doing this Audio Recorder will not be available on other applications, when this happened you need to restart your Android Device to make Audio Recorder Service available again. so  please release it, let it go.

And  there you have it!

Thanks for reading our tutorial and Happy coding 🙂

And as usual if you encounter any problems or errors or bugs or it’s not working at all please email us at gigadrillgames@gmail.com or you can comment below.

Quick Note: this plugin will only work if your android device is Android API 15 or ICE_CREAM_SANDWICH_MR1 or 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 or above if not sorry it will not work, so read this first before purchasing.

for Android API or version info visit this link

http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/uses-sdk-element.html#ApiLevels

for more information please read this documentation from android developer websites

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/speech/tts/UtteranceProgressListener.html

and here we go, lets start now!

Permission needed on your Android Manifest file without this it will not work or it will produce an error.

First we must get the instance on TextToSpeechPlugin

Next change the SetDebug method to 1 if you want to see  toast debug messages and 0 if  you don’t want to see toast debug messages.

Then we need to initialized it

If you want to check if TTS data Activity is Available on your device you can call this method

After initialization we need to setup a Callback listener for TextToSpeech Event

Take Note that OnInit Event you can setup the Volume, Speech Rate, Speech Pitch and Locale by calling this methods

You can now test it by calling SpeakOut Method and pass String to say or  to speak and the Utterance ID , take note this ID is important this ID must always be Unique

Then when pausing or resuming yourr application you need to do this to reduce process consumption on device

then if you are done using it you need to release the Text to Speech Service on Android device by calling this method

New feature

To Use Extra Locale

Note: Extra locale is alwasy depends on your device if its available it will work , if not it will now work

There’s a lot of changes since the last update, the Text to Speech has a lot more features and for Reference here’s the Updated code that we used on Text To Speech Demo

Note: you need  Input Field, Text, Button and Slider UI on this code to make it run, just drag it on this code inspector

and that’s all, see it’s so super quick and easy to used.

Thank you for reading and Happy Coding 🙂

if the above code does not work or if you encounter any problems or bugs or errors or if you have questions or you don’t get it at all, please email us at gigadrillgames@gmail.com or you can comment below.

Permission needed on your Android Manifest file without this it will not work or it will produce an error.

Let’s do it!

Firs step is to get the instance of SpeechPlugin

To stop Debug toast message from showing,  pass 0 on SetDebug method

We need to Initialized it

Next we need to check first if the current device has a support for Speech Recognizer, we can do this check by call this method, if it’s true then its supported else it’s not supported.

After we make sure that Speech Recognizer is supported on your Android Device, we can now setup a Listener for Speech Recognizer Events, by doing this code

And here’s the sample method receivers fro Speech Recognizer Events

To Start Listening for Speech Input call this method

To stop listening from Speech Recognizer events call this method

and when you are done using Speech Recognizer Destroy it to release the Speech Recognizer service from Android Device

To  Cancel Speech

To Stop Listening

For Stopping and Cancel
